Living Views
What do you do when you walk into an empty white room? First, you have a minor panic attack wondering how in the world you are going to come up with a way to make it cozy. Then, you rush to West Elm. They were a huge part of our success in the living room. A blank canvas is exciting and empowering, but it's also overwhelming and undoubtedly the most confusing of things. My mom and husband were both a huge asset to my team of interior mad men.
Here are a few things I learned along the way:
1. Start with the basics - get a good sofa and some cozy candles
2. You can't go wrong with neutrals
3. Mix metals - this adds contrast and creates something unique
4. Get a variety of texture - I am all about linen, leather, fur, and metal
5. Add some greenery- bring the outdoors in
6. Find yourself a POC (pop of color) - this will keep things interesting
My favorite places to start are West Elm, HomeGoods, IKEA, and Restoration Hardware; however, a thrift shop never hurt nobody.
